Dr.Vanessa Parffrey is senior lecturer in Continuing Professional Development
at the College of St. Mark and St. John, Plymouth, Devon, England,
UK. She is a chartered educational psychologist and a past member of the
General Synod and Board of Education of the Church of England. She is currently
on the Local Education Committee and the Diocesan Board of Education and
is moderator of the Adult training programme in the Diocese of Devon. She
is interested in both the theoretical and practical overlap of theology
and education and has published widely on behaviour, inclusion and spirituality.
She teaches on the UK’s professional training programme for headteachers
and is a founder member of the South West Educational Leadership Centre
affiliated to the Harvard Principal Centre. She is in demand as a
key note speaker at professional conferences and in the media on issues
of spirituality, morality, inclusion, values and leadership. Her latest
article ‘Spirited Leadership’ attempts a synthesis of these ideas by exploring
how a Headteacher might create a climate that promotes an inclusive school
rooted in community values.
